Case Study: VD Rubber Mount Configuration
Unlike retail consumer goods, industrial components (fasteners, dampers, valves, gaskets) typically feature dozens or hundreds of dimension combinations for a single product line.
In Appsuite, you never create dozens of duplicate product pages. Instead, we use an SPU (Master Offering) + SKU (Variant Matrix) data model.
This guide uses the built-in seed product —— VD Cylindrical Rubber Vibration Damper (VD型圆柱橡胶双头螺栓减震器) (Path: /admin/collections/offerings/5?locale=zh) —— to demonstrate the entire catalog structure.
1. SPU Master Offering Setup
Section titled “1. SPU Master Offering Setup”When opening the offering document, the first section defines global attributes shared across all specifications:
| Field | Recommended Practice (VD Mount Example) | Business Function |
|---|---|---|
| Title | VD Cylindrical Rubber Vibration Damper | Primary H1 header and Google search keyword anchor. |
| Slug | vd-cylindrical-rubber-damper | Sets canonical product URL. Never modify arbitrarily on live portals. |
| Description | Heavy-duty industrial rubber shock absorber with dual zinc-plated metric threaded studs… | Technical overview informing both engineering buyers and Google search crawlers. |
| Featured Image | Rendered hero shot (vd-hero.jpg) | Thumbnail for catalog cards and header banner. |
| Gallery | Cross-section (vd-cross-section.jpg), thread detail (vd-thread.jpg), test load chart (vd-test.jpg) | Meets international engineers’ rigorous verification standards. |
| Price (Range) | Automatic calculation (e.g., $0.16 ~ $8.20) | No manual entry required! Backend hooks calculate min and max variant prices automatically. |
2. Dynamic Spec Columns
Section titled “2. Dynamic Spec Columns”Spec Columns dictate which technical attributes appear as headers in the matrix table and which attributes produce interactive Filter Chips for buyers:
| Machine Key | Display Header (Label) | Filterable? | Options Dictionary? |
|---|---|---|---|
subType | Product Type | Yes (true) | Damper / Buffer (fixed options) |
dimensions | Dimensions (D*H mm) | Yes (true) | None (free text dimension, e.g., Ø20*15mm) |
thread | Thread Spec | Yes (true) | None (free thread code, e.g., M6*18) |
hardness | Hardness | No (false) | 55±5, 60±5 (spec parameter only) |
- Filterable (
true): An interactive filter chip appears above the table. If a buyer clicksM6*18, the matrix instantly isolates all matching M6 rows without refreshing the page! - Options Dictionary: Standardizes terminology across languages (e.g., translating “Rubber Damper” to “橡胶减震器”).
3. SKU Matrix Variants
Section titled “3. SKU Matrix Variants”Each entry in the variants array represents an orderable, itemized SKU:
- SKU Code: Unique part identifier (e.g.,
VD20*15 M6*18). - Price: Unit price in store base currency (e.g.,
$0.45). - Stock: Immediate stock count (default
9999for manufacturing availability). - Weight (Grams): Numeric weight (e.g.,
55g), used by the checkout engine to quote sample air freight. - Attributes: Matches keys from
specColumns(dimensions:Ø20*15mm,thread:M6*18).
4. How to Manage 50 to 200+ SKUs Efficiently?
Section titled “4. How to Manage 50 to 200+ SKUs Efficiently?”While you can click “Add Variant” manually in the admin form, typing 50 rows in a browser is inefficient.
Appsuite provides an Excel-based bulk matrix import/export service. Simply download a pre-formatted .xlsx, fill in your rows, package SKU photos into a .zip, and upload everything in 1 second!
