Sitemaps & Google Search Console Indexing

After optimizing your product content, technical keywords, and engineering drawings, the final step is ensuring Google’s web crawler (Googlebot) discovers and indexes your pages rapidly.

Many export businesses passively wait for Google to discover their site organically, which can take weeks or months. By proactively integrating your XML Sitemap with Google Search Console (GSC), you can compress the indexing timeline down to hours.

Websites powered by Appsuite do not rely on bloated third-party SEO plugins. Every time you trigger a site build from the dashboard, the Astro compiler automatically generates standard, high-performance XML sitemaps at the root directory.

  • Primary Sitemap Index: https://yourdomain.com/sitemap-index.xml
  • Sub-sitemaps: https://yourdomain.com/sitemap-0.xml (contains URLs, last modification dates, and localized xhtml:link hreflang mappings)

[!TIP] How to Verify: After deployment, navigate to https://yourdomain.com/sitemap-index.xml in your browser. You should see a well-structured XML document listing all active pages.

2. Registering GSC & Verifying Domain Ownership

Section titled “2. Registering GSC & Verifying Domain Ownership”

Google Search Console is Google’s official, free diagnostic portal. GSC provides definitive data on search impressions, clicks, click-through rates, and crawl health.

  1. Visit the Google Search Console portal and log in with your corporate Google account.
  2. Click Add Property in the top-left dropdown menu.
  3. Select the Domain method (which covers both www and root domains across all protocols), and enter your apex domain (e.g., myfactory.com).

Step 2: Configure DNS TXT Verification Record

Section titled “Step 2: Configure DNS TXT Verification Record”

GSC will display a modal with a unique verification string:

google-site-verification=aBcDeFgHiJkLmNoPqRsTuVwXyZ123456789
  1. Copy this verification code;
  2. Log into your domain registrar (e.g., Cloudflare, GoDaddy, or Aliyun);
  3. Add a TXT record to your DNS zone:
    • Type: TXT;
    • Name: @ (or leave blank for root domain);
    • Content: Paste the full google-site-verification=... string;
    • TTL: Select Auto or default.
  4. Return to the GSC modal and click Verify. Once confirmed, your property dashboard is unlocked.

Once verified, immediately submit your primary sitemap:

  1. In the left navigation of GSC, navigate to Indexing -> Sitemaps.
  2. Under Add a new sitemap, input:
    sitemap-index.xml
  3. Click Submit.
  4. The status will update to Success, displaying the number of discovered pages. Whenever you publish new products, Googlebot queries this sitemap automatically.

4. Proactive Indexing: Using the URL Inspection Tool

Section titled “4. Proactive Indexing: Using the URL Inspection Tool”

When you launch a flagship product line (like our VD Cylindrical Rubber Vibration Damper) and want it indexed within hours rather than waiting for scheduled crawls, use GSC’s URL Inspection Tool:

flowchart TD
A["Publish New Product & Rebuild Site in Appsuite"] --> B["Copy Full Live Product URL (e.g. /offerings/vd-damper)"]
B --> C["Paste into GSC Top URL Inspection Search Bar"]
C --> D["Click 'Test Live URL' to Verify Mobile Usability"]
D --> E["Click 'Request Indexing'"]
E --> F["Enters Googlebot High-Priority Queue (Indexed within 1–24 Hours)"]
  • If newly deployed, GSC might report “URL is not on Google”. This is normal;
  • Clicking Request Indexing places the URL in an accelerated crawl queue;
  • Daily quotas exist per Search Console account; reserve direct indexing requests for important new products and key landing pages.
